The Ascent: Your Go-To for All Things Sim! – September 2025

Behind every great simulation session is a dedicated team — planning, problem-solving, adapting, and teaching. The Ascent, our quarterly customer newsletter, is here to support the educators, clinicians, simulation technicians, and innovators who are shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Inside, you’ll find fresh ideas, real-world success stories, and practical tools to help you train with confidence. We also hope it gives you a chance to get to know the team behind the scenes — the ones supporting you every step of the way.

We’re proud to be part of your journey.

Our Engineering and Development Team in Montreal recently took a step back from the fast pace of the Evo launch to celebrate, reflect, and look ahead.

We kicked things off with a team reflection exercise—sharing openly about what to keep doing, what to adjust, and what new ideas to try. The insights will help us take on future projects better, smarter, and faster for our customers.

The day wrapped up with an amazing field trip—recognizing the team’s success, hearing directly from partners and customers, and gathering inspiration to fuel our next wave of innovation.

We visited two of our valued Canadian partners, Carleton University and the University of Ottawa’s Nursing School Simulation Center.

At Carleton, we were inspired to hear how the launch of Canada’s only three-year nursing program is being shaped in part by simulation. The program is designed to address the country’s pressing nursing shortage, and our solutions will play a key role in supporting how new nurses are trained for success.

At the University of Ottawa Simulation Center, our teams gained perspective from the staff who work hands-on with simulation every day. They shared candidly about the logistical challenges of setting up and switching simulations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring efficiency while creating powerful learning experiences. Their practical insights and wish lists reminded us why we are here: to ensure educators and learners have the tools they need to train with confidence and impact patient outcomes

Both visits centered us on our mission—that simulation empowers healthcare providers to practice, learn, and grow, ultimately leading to safer, more effective care and a healthier world.

This reflection reminded us that innovation is built on collaboration—listening to our customers, learning from each other, and continually striving to improve.

The Evo launch marked a milestone, but it is only the beginning. With a clear vision, strong partnerships, and a team committed to excellence, we are creating a drumbeat of innovation that will carry Elevate and our customers into an exciting future.

Troubleshooting network issues? Knowing your simulator’s IP range can be a huge help. Here’s how to find it:

  1. Connect to your simulator network.
  2. Open the search bar on your Instructor Workstation.
  3. Type CMD and open the Command Prompt.
  4. Type ipconfig and hit Enter.

💻 You’ll see a readout with your IP details:

  • IPv4 Address – this is your workstation’s address assigned by the router.
  • Default Gateway – this is your simulator’s router address.

* Reminder: The simulator software is always located at the .5 address (e.g., 192.168.131.5).

In July, we brought our global Customer Support team together for a week of intensive training and recertification—part of our ongoing commitment to keeping their skills sharp and ensuring they’re always ready to support our customers at the highest level—plus an exciting introduction to EVO, the newest addition to our family of simulators.

Just as important, we know that strong teams are built on connection and well-being. Alongside the training, we made time for team-building activities and plenty of fun, giving everyone a chance to recharge, reconnect, and celebrate being part of the Elevate Healthcare family.

Thomas Sharp began his Elevate Healthcare journey 13 years ago as a UK-based technician. Today, he’s a key global player, leading the UK customer service team while managing international LearningSpace installations and supporting distributors around the world. Known for his deep technical knowledge, calm leadership, and unwavering customer-first mindset, Tom continues to raise the bar for what great service looks like.

One of his proudest moments? Helping bring a full-scale simulation centre to life at the University of Greenwich — from initial consultations to on-site installation. “Being part of that process from start to finish was an invaluable experience,” he says.

Outside of work, Tom lives a true rock star life — literally. He’s the guitarist for the band Bedd, plays team basketball, runs in his free time, and is a proud husband and father of two. Recognized with the 360 Degrees Rock Star Award, Tom is proof that excellence in customer service can go hand-in-hand with creativity, dedication, and heart.

With 16 years of service and countless customer visits under his belt, Hector Arias is a cornerstone of Elevate Healthcare’s field service team. As a Field Service Technician, he travels to install, repair, and maintain patient simulators — making sure our equipment runs smoothly and reliably at every client site he visits.

Hector’s calm expertise, problem-solving mindset, and dedication to going the extra mile have earned him a reputation as a true customer favorite. His technical skills are top-notch, but it’s his patience, professionalism, and team spirit that truly set him apart.

One memorable moment? Years ago, a client named their Apollo simulator after Hector. When he returned years later for a service call, the lab tech walked in and said, “Just checking to see how Hector is doing!” Confused, he answered, “I’m doing great!” — only to realize she meant the simulator he was working on. “That’s when I remembered: it was named after me!”

Outside of work, Hector loves spending time outdoors with his three kids and proudly coaches his daughter’s middle school volleyball team. Recognized with the Above & Beyond Tech Star Award, Hector continues to raise the bar for what field service can and should look like.

We had an incredible time at ASPE 2025, where we demoed the latest AI-powered features in LearningSpace—designed to streamline assessments from FON to SOAP notes and save valuable time. Our booth embraced the motto “Elevate Every Day,” showcasing how our simulation solutions help educators maximize training outcomes and prepare learners for real-world challenges.

At AWHONN 2025, the leading convention for women’s health and neonatal nursing, we proudly showcased Lucina and Luna, our state-of-the-art simulators designed to elevate clinical training.

Lucina provided realistic birthing experiences—from routine deliveries to complex situations like shoulder dystocia and breech births—helping learners build confidence in obstetric care. Luna enabled hands-on practice in neonatal assessment and emergency interventions, preparing providers to deliver the best care for newborns. Click here for a full recap

At INACSL 2025, we proudly demonstrated our cutting-edge solutions— LearningSpace, enhanced with AI features to streamline assessments, and Evo, a versatile modular patient simulator offering real-time feedback and immersive scenarios across multiple disciplines.

The conference was an invaluable opportunity to engage with simulation educators, share innovations, and explore new ways to elevate healthcare training for better patient outcomes. Read more about the full experience.

At the HOSA International Leadership Conference, we were honored to partner with HCA to inspire and support the next generation of healthcare professionals. Together, we showcased Apollo in action, highlighting how simulation and experiential learning help students and clinicians build confidence and competence in critical care scenarios.

The event was a powerful reminder of how innovation in training can prepare learners to deliver safe, effective care when it matters most.
